Interventional Nurses Council

The Interventional Nurses Council (INC) is a council of the CSANZ with a direct affiliation with the Interventional Council.

This INC was established in 2011 and became an official council of the CSANZ in 2012. The council's establishment was a result of an overwhelming demand for formal representation of this rapidly evolving Nursing specialty. The direct affiliation with the Interventional Council is required as it reflects the truly interdisciplinary environment that is Cath Lab.

Aim of the Interventional Nurses Council:

  • Represent interventional nurses’ on to CSANZ/IC and ANZET executives
  • Advise/endorse on matters related to: Development of Programs of Practice, Research and Education in the Interventional Setting and Guideline and standards in these areas.
  • Articulate Interventional Nursing as its own specialty in a rapidly evolving and dynamic environment
  • Encourage and support opportunities for INC/CSANZ affiliates.

To become affiliated with the INC, you must first join the CSANZ, please go to CSANZ website for directions on how to join and make your primary affiliation with the INC.

An opportunity to engage in shaping key professional document related to the discipline including:

  • Definition of Interventional Cardiology Nursing
  • Scope of Practice
  • Standards of Practice 
  • Clinical Practice Guideline
  • Education Standards.

The INC is pleased to announce that sub committees have been established for all the regions represented on the Steering committee and they are all currently running meetings for INC affiliates to attend. It is at a Regional level that local requirements for Interventional Nursing can be addressed and they can then be represented at a National Level (New Zealand and Australia).
